Directions by Road
Here is a map showing our location
After Exeter follow the A38 towards Plymouth, once you have passed Ashburton turn on to A384 to Totnes. At the first set of traffic lights in Totnes turn right onto the A381 towards Kingsbridge. It should be noted that there is a speed camera on the slope down to this turn, and the speed limit is 30mph!
The easy route
In the centre of Kingsbridge you take the A379 to Dartmouth,
alongside the estuary. Follow this road until you reach Torcross. You
come round the back of the fresh water lake, round a bend and past the shops and
small car park. We are on your right just beyond the bus stop (where the
bus stop is on the left). Please pull in to one of our parking bays, but come
around the side of the building to the front door when you arrive.
The picturesque route
Follow the A381 Kingsbridge road as far as the village of
Halwell. Turn left just beyond the village by the petrol station (signposted to Dartmouth).
Continue along this road past the "Woodlands Leisure Park" and "The Dartmouth
Golf Club". About 300 yards passed the golf club entrance, take the
right turn
signposted to Strete and Torcross. At the T junction in Strete, turn right along the coast
road to Torcross.
As you exit Strete there are panoramic views of the area over Slapton Beach to Start Point in the distance. Dropping down the hill your will travel along the coast road and come to the village of Torcross, where we are on the left about 100 yards part the Sea Shanty Restaurant. If you get as far as the sharp bend and the shops you have missed us, so turn around.
Please note if you have a sat-nav it may well send you via a totally different route! Turn it off.
Using public transport
The nearest stations are Totnes, and slightly further away, Plymouth. From Totnes you need to get two buses, take the bus from outside the station to Kingsbridge, then the 93 to Torcross. The 93 runs directly from Plymouth to Torcross, and whilst this could be considered easier it could take longer. Some web sites that might help you plan your trip are trainline.com and First National Buses - you might be able to get very cheap rail tickets at megabus/megatrain (use Plymouth for your journey destination).
